Dana Ridenour
Kauai Artist
Dana Ridenour's artistic inspiration began as a child living in Hawaii where she fell in love with the islands' tropical atmosphere and native lifestyle. From these early island roots, Ridenour has developed a deep respect for exotic cultures, which has creatively influenced both her personal life and bodies of work. Passionate about color, Ridenour is best known for her unique eye for detail and creating works of art that depict the bold beauty, and mystery of tropics.
Ridenour's artistic education began ironically after being awarded for a scholarship in photography. She then relocated to Florence, Italy where she studied drawing and painting at the Lorenzo De Medici School of Art. After returning from Italy, she continued to study fine arts at the Art Institute of Southern California.
Upon completion of her discipline, Ridenour traveled to Tahiti for a short vacation but was soon taken by the beauty of the islands. During this tenure, Ridenour began the creation for what would become her first collection entitled 'Les Couleur de Tahiti.' The brush strokes and colors used in this collection are as strong and vivid as the beauty of their natural surroundings. This compilation marked the beginning of Ridenour's artistic career, and set forth the distinct style she is known for today.
